M.O.D.E.L. Men's Ministry

We are constantly fed conflicting messages about how to be a man. and these mixed messages can be confusing and harmful to men of any age. Our Mission for Men's Ministry and Discipleship is to model healthy masculinity in faith community and society. Our Men's Discipleship model is based on the five traits of healthy masculinity.
1. Fairness
One of the most important aspects of positive masculinity is the idea of being just. To be just means being fair and doing the right thing even when nobody else is around. This includes looking out for others, making, sure everyone is treated fairly, and holding other people accountable.
2. Integrity
Acting with integrity can take many forms, ranging from being honest to doing hard work. Either way, all forms of integrity demonstrate a trustworthy competency. When we act with integrity, we show others they can open up to us and rely on us. This includes keeping our word, admitting when we're wrong, and how we can grow, and telling the truth.
3. Emotional Openness
Men tend to freeze up when it comes to showing emotion because it has been framed as "weak." However, being able to show and manage our emotions is as important for health as a good workout. This includes learning how to channel our anger properly, show affection to those around us and be unafraid to let others know our feelings
4. Confidence
One of the most important aspects of being a good man is to be confident in yourself and to embrace who you are. To demonstrate confidence at home and in the faith community revealing your self-motivation strategies. Encouraging men to surround themselves with a community and counsel of support who accept them for who they are.
5. Leading by Example
You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk? A big part of how we model masculinity in a positive way is leading by example, showing men across generations what "doing right" looks like! When we take initiative, we collectively see the value of tackling problems and acting selflessly. We engage by being curious about the world and asking "What can I do to help?" Lastly, doing the hard work that needs to be done.
